Biomediate Toxic Water and Soil in Gold Mining Area

What we do

The surface and ground water surrounding illegal gold mining operations across Africa is toxic. Rivers and streams are re-routed and dosed with Mercury to precipitate the Gold. Downstream communities cannot farm their land or drink their water. Municipalities and regional water authorities lack resources necessary to combat the pollution and provide alternate sources of safe, affordable water.

Remediate Toxic Water and Soil in Gold Mining Area

Take Action

In one such community in Ghana, Osino, in the Eastern Region, BGW is planning a novel three phase Safe Water Enterprise (SWE). Phase One is the commencement of water tanker deliveries to a BGW plant-based, solar-powered treatment depot. Phase Two is the establishment of 30 irrigated greenhouses for income generating food production. Phase Three is the installation of 12 distributed drinking water ATMs
